Can I tell you a secret?

I have been on winter break for about 3 weeks and I have not eaten breakfast once during break. I guess I only eat breakfast when I have to be up for class before 8am.

And that is just not the case on break!

Oops.

I start my day off with the good stuff, don’t worry I don’t eat this as soon as I wake up. Maybe an hour or so later because it is usually lunch time.

My favorite summer winter pasta with basil leaves, purple onions, red and green peppers and some white vinegar.

IMG_3499  Confession: I am not a fan of eating raw veggies, my body digests them better cooked. This is the closest thing to a salad I will eat.

Pasta of your choice

Feta ( of course)

ANY veggies on hand ( I added peas, corn and olives)

Seasoning ( Salt, pepper, garlic, chili power)

White vinegar

I had my pasta salad with a side of baked tandoori chicken

IMG_3505Confession #2: I don’t like eating meat on a bone. I am always worried I will bite into a bit of fat or something. Blech.

A few bites into the pasta salad I knew something was missing…

FETA! much much betaa!

I had some company with my meal….

Confession #3: I am scared of dogs. But this one I liked through the window he/she was definitely asking to come in.

Bye bye doggie, thanks for stopping by!

Post-lunch I taught a baller ab-crunch class, no pics. I think strangers would be weirded out if I started snapping their picture mid workout.

The best part of my day?

Shopping at Trader Joe’s!

IMG_3556 The loot!

I got some new sauces to try out, I am thinking either tofu or chicken. Lunch tomorrow will be fun!

For dinner I wanted something quick and easy

IMG_3535

If garlic bread is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

IMG_3559

I microwaved a potato for 5 mins

I went a little wild with some cheese, sour cream and hot sauce. It’s wayy better then Taco Bell’s Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes!

Do you have any secrets you want to share?

  1. Breakfast is the best part of my day food-wise. I seriously go to bed while fantasizing about what I’ll eat in the morning.

Also: I swore off Diet Coke only to fall off the wagon (yet again!) today. It’s my biggest food vice, fo sho.

  2. I bought a case of clementines yesterday and it is almost gone. I guess I’m getting good dose of Vitamin C :-)

  3. Hey girl live it up!! I wish I took more advantage of college breaks…and now they’re no more :(

  4. a secret?! What kind of secret do you want from me…lol..hmm I totally eat food off my kitchen floor if I drop it!

During break I didn’t eat breakfast some mornings because I slept ’til 10:30 or later. My breakfast was lunch. I love that winter pasta. Sounds simple, easy and tasty.

  6. I went to TJ’s yesterday too. My secret: I bought out their entire seaweed snack stash. I don’t think anyone noticed :)

  7. I know people like eating breakfast for dinner, but I’m a fan of dinner for breakfast! Especially leftovers.

  8. Meaghan says:

You’re in college, you should definitely not be waking up early enough to eat breakfast during break ;)

Mmmm. TJ’s. I need to get there soon. I wish there was one in the city!

  9. Shopping at TJs is always the best part of any day. ;)

And I can’t do meat on a bone either. It weirds me out.

I am trying to get better about breakfast. I’m also trying to wake up earlier to prepare myself for school staring soon. A big plate of pancakes always helps. And like you, I don’t do well with raw veggies. They turn my stomach! Thank you for sharing all this goodness, sweet girl. I miss TJs!

I eat breakfast every single day. Just yesterday, I left myself a few extra min in the morning and made myself a glorious egg sandwich on a bagel with brie cheese. Whoa. When, I got to work, I realized I had forgotten to pack it with me to eat at my desk as planned. It was still sitting on my counter at home, all packed and ready to go. Hungry Avery sat at her desk depressed and starving. To say I was bummed is an understatement. Haha!

There isn’t much doubt that breakfast is the best meal of the day. We actually have breakfast for dinner a lot just because it is so good. :)
