Oops I Missed My College Graduation

It’s a good thing I attended graduation with my friends last year, because I did not attend my own college graduation. And I had wayy more fun with them, than I would have this year.

A friend of mine told me a few years ago that they were not planning on attending their own college graduation, and I thought they were crazy!

How can you not attend the most important day of your life???

Well, I decided not to go because it really does not mean anything to me, I don’t feel successful or accomplished. Soooo, I am not going.

Plus, it’s raining and that means no cute pictures.

However, I am so happy to be moving on the the next degree, I start classes at my local community college on the 29th. Yay for a new life plan!

I started off my morning with some Chobani, I have never had the honey flavor before, and it was not as sweet as I was expecting it to be.

I added some pumpkin bread to sweeten up the yogurt.

Much better!

As I was shooting my breakfast pictures, I saw a sweaty, half-naked boy run by. EW.

The worst part is that he is related to me. Why to men like being shirtless???

At least he got his morning workout in! Yay for having an athletic family, now go put some clothes on Maji!

I didn’t go to my college graduation, either. #overrated. Either way, congrats on graduating!!

Hi Gabriela!!! I miss your blog :) And thanks!

  3. Dominic says:

I actually just graduated too, and I didn’t attend mine either! Haha.

What are your aspirations for your next degree?

    Congrats on graduating!

  4. You should be proud! Getting a degree, not to mention a degree in science, is an accomplishment. Or maybe I only think that becauase I’m surprised I’ve lasted through 2 years of engineering so far…let’s see how the next two years pan out… -_-
Haha does he know you posted those pictures of him? My brother would have killed me haha

Enjoy the time off you have!

My brother is a chem eng! It sounds like too much work! I e-mail him the blog post to make sure it was ok. He thinks he is going to have stalkers now!!

  5. My husband received his diploma for his PhD in August and would have been walking for it yesterday. I hope he doesn’t regret the decision of not attending down the road with the big PhD hood and all!

  6. I didn’t want to go to my graduation- I went to PEnn State and there was so many people! But i did and I’m glad I did

  7. mmm pumpkin bread, me, please!

    Your neighborhood looks gorgeous.
I really didn’t want to go to my graduation either, but I ended up going (parents wanted to attend/take pics, etc). I definitely don’t regret it, but since you and your family get together often anyways it’s probably no biggie!

I just feel so disappointed, I hated my undergrad experience. It was not what I wanted to be doing.
Hahah, yeah, my immediate family is pretty close :)

      • Floey says:

No I totally know what you mean. At the end of my BA I realized I can’t make a living out of my hobby (journalism) — and now I’m trying to go back to school but all the community colleges in my area are SO packed — the classes I want are already full for Fall 2012 :(

        • Sana says:

What do you want to get a degree in? I would keep checking the classes because they do drop people on the day that the payment is due.
I barely got in last week.

          • Floey says:

My BA is in Journalism. I want to go back to start taking my pre-reqs for Nursing. But apparently a lot of people are trying to do the same these days.
But yea, you’re right, a lot of my friends told me to try to add the first day when they drop people who haven’t shown up.

            • Sana says:

If you don’t get into the classes, take a class with the American Red Cross and work as a clinical tech. http://www.redcross.org/takeaclass
You will gain a lot of experience and can see nurses at work. A friend of mine is doing it now!
idk if you have looked into it or not, but just an idea!

Still trying to graduate now that I’ve got three kids and a husband. Congratulations to you! I hope to be done with my bachelors in the next year and my masters within the next five. One day!!

I love your combination of Chobani and pumpkin bread. Haven’t thought of it, but it’s simple and easy! Will try it!

  10. Allie says:

oh you should be proud of graduating- that’s a great accomplishment. congrats!

I thought about skipping my college graduation. Mine was a bit odd because I graduated a semester early which meant that by the time I went to walk I already had a full-time job, condo, etc. But I’m glad I did it. I realized it was more for my family than it was for me, for my parents to be able to celebrate their first kid graduating. My biggest regret is that I didn’t take many pictures at the time. Looking back I wish I had a bunch of me in my robe because it can feel like without pictures it didn’t happen!
