I am going to start off by saying that this is the BEST quinoa I have EVER made. And just incase you don’t read any healthy living blogs, quinoa is basically the best grain (grain-like) ever and packed with crazy amounts of protein.![]()
I followed this vlog for the quinoa recipe. But I made my own “dressing” for the salsa.
Quinoa Salsa Dressing:
- 3 tbs olive oil
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp lemon pepper seasoning
- 1/4 tsp all purpose seasoning
Salsa:
- black beans
- corn
- green bell pepper
- jalapeño pepper
- red bell pepper
- red onion
- lime juice
- cilantro
- garlic
- quinoa
I had the salsa for dinner on both Wednesday and Thursday. Even my parents loved the salsa for dinner (they have never been this excited when I cook)!
On Thursday I was invited to visit Double Dragon to taste some authentic recipes from Shanghai.
First up was the Crispy Beef Szechuan Style. The beef was very crispy with a lot of flavor and not dry at all.
Next up was my favorite dish, Crisp Honey Shrimp! The chef’s sauce was sweet and creamy. I totally need to learn how to make this.
The next dish I got to try was called Double Dragon Egg with Pepper (I helped come up with the name).
Have you ever had a entire fried egg? The outside was nice and crispy and the inside of the egg was perfectly cooked without being too dried out! The peppers were not super spicy and they tasted sweet as well.
For dessert I got to try the Shanghai 8 Treasure Rice Pudding, I was happy that the rice pudding tasted very similar to the Indian version of rice pudding even though they look very different and don’t have similar ingredients.
Overall the Szechuan style of food was very different from the Hunan style found in most Chinese restaurants and I am glad I got to have the opportunity to try the different items!
Thank You Double Dragon!
What is your favorite way to eat/prepare quinoa?

WOW that salsa quinoa looks good! Pinning the recipe to try later :)
My quinoa creations are usually pretty basic, mixing with various veggies and maybe balsamic, but the trick is to make it fluffy (yum!), and here’s one of my new favorite recipes. It’s SO flavorful! http://dareyouto.blogspot.com/2012/06/quinoa-with-greens-tomatoes-and-feta.html
Thank you for sharing your quinoa recipe! I will def try it out!
I want to try that egg dish!
heheh Dragon Balls!!!
Girl. That salsa is off the chain pretty.
:) It tastes amazing as well!
You know what? I have a confession. I do not like Quinoa. I know its all the rage for health-minded people, but I just can’t really get into it. Maybe it was because the first and only time I’ve ever had it, the bf made if for me just plain with plain grilled chicken and a plain sweet potato, so now I just associate it with blandness. Maybe I have to actually try a recipe sometime!
