16-Hour Smoothie

IMG_0023

This past month of fasting I have had a smoothie every morning at 4 am and it kept me pretty full till 8pm. I also limited what I did during the day so staying full on just a smoothie would not happen on a typical day or anytime other than Ramadan.

Here is what I usually put in a typical smoothie:

  • Almond Milk
  • Vanilla Yogurt
  • Fruits (mango + strawberries)
  • Honey

I typically like to use frozen fruits to keep my smoothie cold:

Howeverrr, I had to use some blueberries and a mango that I found in the fridge since I did not have any of the frozen kind.

I think it was the blueberries and the lack of honey that made the smoothie a bit bitter so I used some samples of Sweet’ N Low that I was sent to sweeten things up!

Do you think a smoothie would keep you full for 16 hours?

* I am pretty sure the blessed month of Ramadan had something to do with helping me stay full.

“As part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program, I received some free samples of Sweet’ N Low and a stipend.”

Nothing would keep me full for 16 hours, nothing – not even Thanksgiving dinner…

^^Same here. I have a fast metabolism. And sadly, I wouldn’t want to lose that by not eating. I don’t follow a religion that closely though so I can’t understand doing it for religious purposes.

Yeah, I try not to make the blog too religion heavy, but it’s more of a self control/ self awareness thing if that makes any sense….. I think our bodies have the amazing ability to adapt to different circumstances.

Oh, I LOVE learning about other religions. And your blog isnt religion heavy so I hope I didn’t make you paranoid :)

No worries- I guess more of my culture shows on the blog since I live with my parents (most unmarried girls in my culture do) and don’t have boys or alcoholic drinks (not a part of my culture, dating/drinking) mentioned on the blog.

It just makes it harder to come up with blog content ;)

But I believe religious views are personal and no one needs to be preached at… if only the people who come to my door would get the memo….

For religious reasons, I fast every Monday and it’s crazy just how clued up our bodies are! Every other morning, I wake up ravenous for breakfast but on Mondays, there is rarely a feeling of hunger! I’m sure a smoothie could keep me full for hours (16 might be pushing it haha), although I’d need to add in some fats like chias & Greek yogurt or protein powder!

Doubt it. :/ I am too much of a snacker. And by too much I mean every 1-2hrs, haha.
