Sore.

Happy Sunday all! I spent the majority of the weekend plugging away at the study materials to become a certified personal trainer.

Flash cards, colored pens, study sheets? This is so my jam.

Also, my sister and I started going through a lot of our clothes to see what we can donate. We own wayyy too many articles of clothing for two people. I also discovered many things I had forgotten about. Shopping in my own closet is the best.

I ended Saturday with a workout session with my mom and sister.

My sister ran around the local lake while my mom and I power walked- funny story, as we were walking along a sweet older man comes up behind us and goes:

“Man, you two are tough to keep up with.”

He proceeds to pass us and power walk out of sight.

My mom and were out walked by an old man.

But it’s all good since we walked for about 45, minutes in some beautiful weather. As soon as I got back from the walk, I drove to the gym to lift some heavy things, throw down some planks, do tons of lunges and squats.

I love having an indoor and outdoor portion of my workout- it keeps me interested and makes things exciting.

And a bit more than 12 hours later I found myself at the gym with some friends. We had plans to take an outdoor Zumba class but due to the rainy weather we opted for an indoor Tae Bo workout.

An hour of heart pumping cardio? Yes please!

I have not taken a Tae Bo class in a year so I was a bit nervous to see if I would remember the moves. I stood in the back of the class and modified the workout ( I marched in place whenever we had any high intensity moves). SO sweaty and my quads are already sore, I am dreading tomorrow.

Actually, I am kinda excited to be sore, it has been so long since I have been sore from anything that it makes me feel almost normal again. However, by modifying the workout I am bringing back high intensity exercise back into my life without worrying about getting injured again.

I invited my friends Angela and Minerva with me to check out the 10pm class with me, mainly because if  I did not have friends with me I would bailed out on the class. It is totally normal to use people to get in a good workout!

Actually, working out with the girls was a blast- and we already have plans to go on a hike the next time we hangout.

Afterwards we hopped over to Starbucks for some breakfast, I have no idea how people eat AND workout in the morning. I have to do everything  on an empty stomach and get something small afterwards.

Mighty Mango Naked juice, and a small parfait with granola was the perfect post-workout snack.

Do you enjoy working out with friends? Do you eat before you workout?

This reminds me of when I ran the Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon in DC. I kept up with a 60 year old couple until mile 6, when we started getting into a really hilly area and they zoomed on ahead of me. I never caught back up to them for the rest of the race. Ouch.

I wish I lived closer to you so we could workout together! (Or walk because that’s all I really do). But I’d definitely be up to try a class.
I usually have to drink some juice or have some dried fruit / starbursts or something (healthy, I know) before I do “workout”.

Wow, i’ve never tried Tae Bo, sounds pretty hard! I love working out with friends, and never eat before an early morning workout…that doesn’t go down well haha

You should see if you have any classes at your local gym! It’s awesome. I am too nervous to eat in the morning, idk it’s weird.

On the way to Taebo I had lots of water, chugged a coffee, and poured the end-of-the-bag granola crumbs into my mouth (as a last stitch effort to get some carb/ energy). Glad I kept it so light…phew it was intense!
