Time to Go Run

Gotta move this body while I can.

I could have spent the entire day today studying but I decided to get up and move my body.

Why? Because I could.

For some reason I have decided to take both Friday and Saturday off as my rest days. I guess I like to enjoy my weekends by being as lazy as possible.

I used the Run/Walk Interval Timer App to set up the following workout.

The best part about the interval run is that I am 100% committed to running when I am supposed to be running and I walk when I am supposed to be walking. It does not matter if I am running up a hill I keep going until my phone buzzes for me to stop.

I was a little apprehensive going into this workout since I was having issues breathing on my last run, but like I said no two runs are created equally.

I really feel like I pushed myself, since I was huffing and puffing during my walking breaks and I did about two miles and some change in the 27 minutes. I finished up the 35 minute workout by walking home.

Not only did I get a good physical workout, but I feel mentally refreshed. I have a lot going on this week in terms of assignments and exams so I just needed to pound out a run.

I stretched and foam rolled once I got home. I always used to think that I did not need to stretch or foam roll, but I can really feel the difference with the myofascial release.

How many rest days do you take a week? What workouts did you do this weekend?

  1. I usually strive to work out 5 times a week. Many times, my weekends are my time to lounge too. This weekend, I worked out with my 10 year old, who did remarkably well. :) Good job on your run! :)

Yay! I love family workouts- not only is it important to be healthy but it’s just as important to create healthy habits as a family :)

I think it is definitely harder to work out during the weekends because so much is going on and there is no set routine. During the weekdays because of class schedules and working it becomes easier :) I took Friday and Sunday off last w/e!

Exactly- I just don’t want to force myself to do something over the weekend. I just think it’s funny that we both took the same days off!

  3. For some reason weekends are much easier for me to workout. I love the classes they have at the gym on the weekend and I don’t have to get there an hour early to sign-up for them. Saturday I did a great boot camp style kettle bells class and then Sunday was my favorite…Zumba!

Thanks for mentioning the interval app. I used the C25K app when I first started to train for a 5k and I loved that it told me when to start and stop.

I love apps that tell me when to start and stop, it’s like having my running coaches with me all the time :)
You are right, the group fitness classes are wayyy better over the weekend-but I am mainly focused on running and walking at the moment.
      I can’t get too crazy ;)
