What is the difference between running and jogging?

It is currently earlyyy Friday morning and I am blogging in my bed while it is storming outside. I figure with all the noise I won’t be able to sleep so I have time to to update the blog.

I never caught up to this week and it’s Friday already. I don’t even attempt to blog on the days that I have a lot going on, so now feels like the perfect time to reflect over my exercise for the week.

I was thinking earlier today about what the difference between running and jogging is. I don’t consider myself to be a serious runner more like a super casual one.

However, being a jogger just sounds so, meh and bouncy?

After a quick Google search, I found out that generally people that can run at 6 mph = 10 minutes per mile are runners and everyone else is a jogger.

I am going to stick with being a casual runner.

Unless I missed photographing the momentous occasion, I believe that I workout 3 times this week.

But, I also taught 5 classes at the gym this week, so it all just blurs together.

On Sunday- I went out for a very informal run. I walked from my house to the lake, slowly ran the entire lake and walked home. It was muggy and I smelled like a swamp once I was done.

Looking back, I don’t think I pushed myself as much as I could have. I really wanted to focus on getting the run in.

On Wednesday, I found myself playing around at the gym. Leg lifts on the power tower are a bit intense.

But I did follow that up with some elliptical action and some free weights.

Tonight, Kelli invited me to dinner before my run. Normally I would pass because I am super committed to my running group. However, she wanted to go to Azul 17 and I could not miss out on some awesome Mexican food.

We split all of our favorite dishes. I have decided to just let Kelli order every time we go out to eat, we are sorely disappointed whenever we get something that I pick out.

I have no words to describe how flavorful and creamy the entire meal was.

And 30 minutes after eating I was lacing up to go run. I almost skipped out because I was a bit too full even though I only ate 1/2 of the food, however I did not join a running group to sit around at home.

Also, I had a fun Saucony delivery to review. I could not want to take the new shoes on a run.

I want to wait for a few more runs to review the shoes, but I think I love them already. And it’s only been the first date!

Oh and I rocked an awesome head light on the run. I ended up wearing it around my neck because it was easier to see the ground in front of me that way.

I was super proud of myself for even running tonight, I could have easily called it a day with the food baby. But I mainly went to run with me running group friends.

We took the run super easy and the weather could not have been more perfect. It was dark, cool and breezy.

Running is awesome.

I am also glad I did not puke on my run, I usually never run immediately after eating but I am glad that it went well.

Would you run after an epic meal?

I call myself a “runner”. My definition is the following: if you are pushing yourself and are slightly out of breath, you are running. For some, this may be a 12-minute mile pace. For others, this may be a 6-minute mile pace. That’s the beauty of running – it is extremely personal!
Also, in my opinion, “running” sounds much cooler than “jogging”. I figure if you are putting in the time and making the effort to get out there and push yourself, you are allowed to use the “cooler” word!
