CrossFit Take Two

This post will probably seem all over the place as I attempt to recap the various parts of last week.

First of all, I am on a mission to consume more H20. I know I have mentioned before that I hate drinking water because it requires me to use the bathroom. I am not always in a place where I can find a bathroom ASAP so I avoid drinking water all together.

I can’t be the only one who has bathroom anxiety.

Clearly, this is not an excuse. When I am at home/work/ within close proximity to the bathroom I make sure I am chugging away. I also have a friend that I can do random water checks with, we both motivate each other to consume more water throughout the day.

So far things are going well.

Water>>>>>Soda.

I have also been eating a lot of cheesy eggs. They are a fast and easy dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I like to enjoy my eggs with some cream cheese and toast.

Also this week I am back to teaching group fitness classes, on Wednesday I taught a very packed ab crunch class. It’s so nice to see students enthusiastic about working out.

I made everyone scoot up to the front after they all started cramming into the back of the studio. I always encourage people to move up to the front in group fitness classes-nothing to be afraid of!

Do you sit in the back of the group fitness classes you take?

On Thursday after work I stopped over at Potbelly’s for a “skinny” lunch. I got the Skinny Tuna Fish Sandwich followed up by a Skinny Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks.

I do like the fact that various establishments offer a “skinny” alternative to some regular menu items. I don’t think it’s a huge deal to order the regular menu items but having a skinny option is nice when I find myself eating out for one too many meals.

I was a bit ambitious when I planned out my workouts for the week. I wanted to run 2-3 miles before I did a CrossFit workout.

The view from the lake I wanted to run around is beautiful, however the wind chill got the best of me and I decided just to stick with an indoor workout.

I am usually OK with running in the cold, but it’s much harder to run when you have cold wind slapping you in the face.

I was not too bummed about missing out on the run, since I had planned on going to my 2nd CrossFit class that evening.

It’s always intimidating to watch the class right before our basic class because of all the weights being thrown around.

What I love about CrossFit is that the coaches at CrossfitReVamped do an excellent job of explaining all the moves before we even attempt to do them. They also let us know about all modifications so that we don’t injure ourselves.

In the class I attempted to do a V-UP. Basically we hung on a bar and tucked our knees up. My arms were getting super tired holding on and I had to drop down a few times.

Another thing we tried to do was a wall ball. Thankfully, the girls only had to get the ball to the bottom of the V. I am pretty sure my 10lb ball only made it to the designated spot twice in all of my attempts. I was more concerned about not getting hit in the face with the ball.

CrossFit is basically recess for adults.

In other news, I finally got a Road ID. I know most people that run have one and thankfully I was gifted one because I would have never gotten one on my own (I run with my driver’s license/ rarely run alone).

But I do feel more secure now that I have one since, anything can happen when I am out and it’s a good way to have all my emergency contact information literally on hand.

These coupons are good for $1 off any Road ID order. It can be used up to 20 times in the next 30 days.

How do you motivate yourself to drink more water?

  1. You are not the only one with bathroom anxiety! For me it’s more of bathroom annoyance. I am like a little kid- when I’m doing something fun it’s really annoying to have to stop what I’m doing and go to the bathroom. What a time suck!

I keep one of those giant tumblers from Starbucks (like a reusable venti iced coffee cup) at my desk. I don’t have to worry about spilling the water on my keyboard and the straw eliminates the extra step it would take to remove the top from my water bottle. Sometimes when I’m writing I’ll just sit the cup between me and my keyboard and drink mindlessly :) Bathroom breaks ensue.

It’s more of a bathroom annoyance for me as well. I hate it especially when I am out and about and have to put all of my crap down to rush to the bathroom. Also, some places are super questionable. That is terrifying.
I need a spill proof cup!

I’m with you on the bathroom issue! I drink a lot of H20 at work, I fill up my nalgene and try to drink it twice before I leave. Usually I get through about 1.5 Nalgenes /day. The weekends are super tough because I’m out and about and always forget to bring water with me.

I’m an egg-aholic especially after a morning workout. I will do a couple scrambled eggs and top them with half an avocado and some salsa, or other times I toast an english muffin and put a fried egg and some Brie Cheese inside. OMG.

Crap I haven’t commented in so long. You’re doing Crossfit?! Wow! So hardcore :) Good luck!
