Secolari Artisan Oils and Vinegars!

Yesterday, I attended a private party at Secolari Artisan Oils and Vinegars at The Columbia Mall through HoCo Blogs.

One of the beautiful things about blogging is the opportunity to try out places you would never otherwise not know about.

Secolari’s was a true tasting room. So many wonderful things to taste.

This citrus watermelon salad made with the oil and vinegar from the store.

And this corn salad.

Some popcorn topped with black truffle sea salt.

And every oil and vinegar bottle was set up with some small cups for tasting. I personally have never tasted oil and vinegar straight up so it was certainly an interesting experience for me.

Every sample I tried had a strong flavor that really popped and I could imagine it mixed into various dishes.

In addition to the oil and vinegar Secolari had pasta (Pappardelle’s brand of 64 different flavored pastas and orzo), salt and honey also available for sample/ purchase.

I was so inspired by all the wonderful flavors I was tasting, I made a few purchases to experiment with.

Thank you to the wonderful owners/staff at Secolari for a wonderful tasting event. I truly felt like I was sitting at my own kitchen with Barth and Mary deRosa chatting away about food and even running!

Also, a huge thanks to Zoe’s Kitchen for providing dinner. I am so glad The Columbia Mall has some lovely foodie additions to the Columbia area.

For dessert we sampled a chocolate cake drizzled with some of the balsamic vinegars that were in store.

I topped mine with the expresso balsamic and it was a nice touch with the chocolate.

After leaving the tasting event I decided to come home and make a fun appetizer for my family to enjoy.

I have seen a lot of people making feta+watermelon snacks over the summer so I added some cherry tomatoes and some mint leaves.

We have been binge eating watermelon this summer. It is so tasty and refreshing after a long day of fasting.

My feta, watermelon, mint and cherry tomato appetizers were a hit! My grandfather told me they were very sophisticated looking.

I personally think that not only do they taste good, the colors just make the dish extra special and summery!

To top off the appetizer I drizzled on a healthy amount of Secolari’s White Balsamic which really brought all the different flavors together.

I can’t wait to make this again!

What are some of your favorite summer snacks/ appetizers?
